Pakistan’s discarded wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal made his disappointment obvious after being left out of the list of centrally-contracted players for the second part of the year.
While admitting his poor performance was a factor behind his omission, Akmal said that he would make a comeback to impress the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“I’m extremely disappointed,” Kamran told The Express Tribune. “I admit that it was my mistake but I think I deserve another chance. Somehow it’s the board’s decision and I don’t want to say much. I’ve earned the contract for eight years and losing this one is not a big deal.
Kamran, 29, fell out of favour following Pakistan’s World Cup campaign and was replaced by Mohammad Salman for the West Indies tour. Salman was subsequently dropped after he failed to impress and Kamran’s brother Adnan Akmal made a comeback to the squad for the tour of Zimbabwe.
While Kamran has played 53 Tests, 137 One-Day Internationals and 38 Twenty20s, the future now looks bleak for the once first-choice wicket-keeper.
“The selectors weren’t satisfied with my performance but I just need to keep on playing domestic cricket and prove my form to them. I’m 29 and fit so I feel that there’s at least six years of cricket left in me.”
Kamran’s skills have been questioned time and again and his missed chances have cost Pakistan dearly.
The mistakes kept being repeated and the former vice-captain was eventually left out.
“Everyone makes mistakes but the important thing is learning from them. I vow not to make them again. No wicket-keeper loves to drop catches and all I needed then was a bit of rest.”

He dropped so many catches and now he dropped from the team and by playing domestic cricket. What he want to show?he not learn by playing 53 Tests, 137 One-Day Internationals and 38 Twenty20s, Now he want to learn from domestic cricket?its not a joke? say ALLHA HAFIZ to International cricket.
If you see Pakistan cricket you have to understand that we dont have a pool in which players are always available and are fighting for their spot in the team. Look at India at the moment, they generate so many players from the domestic tournaments as well as the IPL. There is no way Pakistan can equally match there pool. In India even the top class players are struggling to keep there spot in the playing 11. On the other hand you pakistani players like Yasir hameed, Faisal Iqbal, Danish kaneria, Mohammed Sami and plenty of more who just keep on playing and failing. Therefore Pakistan have no other choice. If kamran akmal won't be wicketkeeper then his brother will and if his brother won't then his other brother will and if not if him then they will go back to Mohammed salman who is unknown keeper who can't bat at all. To conclude kamran is there best choice even though he is horrible.

Go home and take rest now. We are sorry but you're fired!!!
His teeths are dropped. Finally it comes to an end. Good news. Give young wicketkeepers to prove themselves.
kamran has been dropped from the team in same way he drops catches behind the stumps.Good work selectors.
Oh Come on mate you are in no position to say you need another chance...If Afridi says it then its at least debatable but you are in no position to say it.Even Taibu is like a legend as compared to Akmal. He not only costed the team but he costed the likes of Shoaib and other bowlers. You better switch to something else now...
@Ibrqhim:
Forget the 100 catches he dropped before Sydney, forget Sydney, forget his miserable performance vs Sri Lanka in the WC, forget his countless drops off Kaneria in Tests.....
....do you remeber the two catches he droppes off Shoaib by Taylor in NZ? To make this clear: I am not a regular keeper but I have kept wickets to some nasty fast bowling (not Shoaib though :p)....if a keeper can not catch the ball off a fast bowler at a reasonable hight: He is of NO use!
He has dropped so many lollipops that it seriously makes me doubt his character!
Kamran Akmal is like haunted dream for bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar, Sami and Kaneria . Kami dropped so many catches behind the stumps against these bowlers that he should be made a social outcast in cricket. Technically speaking Kamran had a very bad technique behind stumps.
I kept reading "stumped" as "stupid" whenever I saw the headline. It wasn't even deliberate... it is like my subconscious is telling me something.
Pakistan is the only team in the world in which Kamran Akmals and Shahid Afridis get so many chances. Oh, and the list is topped by one Ijaz Ahmed... Man......
He should get a last chance because he has a point. He said that he has 6 more legit years until he retires and he can at least get one more series to prove his point. Plus its a extra batsman for the team while the last wicketkeeper wasnt a batsman. Mohammed Salman or whatever his name was!
In case he is suffering from memory loss, the world cup was his 'another chance' after the Sydney debacle!
“I admit that it was my mistake but I think I deserve another chance."
NO, YOU DO NOT!
Stay at home Fakmal. Stay at home!
