A cycle race was organised by the Lyari Cycle Café to mark the International Day of the Girl Child at the Sea View beach on Sunday.
As many as 70 young girls, belonging to different age brackets, participated in the competition, while their families cheered for them.
Lyari Cycle Café president Sultan Mandhro stated that coaching girls in cycling, they wanted to prove that girls were not inferior to boys by any means. "I have been organising cycle races for girls on the day for the last three years," he said, adding that many girls cycled with them in Lyari every Sunday too.
The girls who competed in the race maintained that they wanted to represent Pakistan at the global level by taking part in international cycling competitions.
The Lyari Cycle Café provides coaching for cycling, football and boxing to young girls in Lyari.
