KARACHI:

Whenever Prime Minister Imran Khan takes notice of the price hike for a particular good, it becomes even more expensive the following day, said Sindh Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahoo on Sunday.

The prices of sugar, flour, petrol, electricity, gas, medicine and other essential goods are beyond the reach of lower and middle-income families, said Rahoo, adding that the incompetent and inexperienced Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government in the Centre had snatched loaves of bread from the people.

In a statement to an English daily newspaper, the provincial minister censured the PTI government for inflation skyrocketing in the country.

"Sugar was available at the price of Rs55 per kilogramme under the former [Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz] government and now it is priced over Rs100," underscored Rahoo, adding that prices of vegetables that were previously available at around Rs30 per kg have now shot past Rs100.

Responding to the premier's recent announcement that from today (Monday) onwards, the Centre would "use all resources at the disposal of the state to bring down food prices" and figure out the cause behind price hikes, Rahoo asked when had the premier's 'notice' gotten people relief in the past two years.

The Pakistan Peoples Party leader held the premier and the PTI government's 'incompetence' responsible for increasing inflation in the country.

"The people are miserable and Pakistan is lagging behind," he remarked, lashing out at the PTI-led central government.
