To improve the basic healthcare system, the provincial health department has decided to resume the provision of health services around the clock in the basic health units of Peshawar.
This was disclosed by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Minister Taimur Jhagra on Thursday during a meeting with officials of the health department in the provincial capital.
In the initial phase of the initiative, staff availability and other basic issues in 10 Basic Health Units (BHUs) of Peshawar will be addressed.
It will soon be followed by the first phase under which healthcare facilities will be provided to the BHUs.
At least 41 oxygen cylinders have been provided to different hospitals in the provincial capital so far while at least five medical officers have been transferred over poor performance, Jhagra said, adding that two medical officers have also been posted against vacant posts.
The health minister further said that strict action would be taken officials found guilty of negligence in their duties.
