China to host 500 scholars by 2025

Alumni of Chinese universities should work with their Chinese counterparts

Over 500 scholars are expected to travel to China from the COMSATS University in the next five years to complete their postgraduate studies including masters and doctorates. This was disclosed on Thursday during a meeting of alumni from Chinese universities currently working at the COMSATS University in Islamabad (CUI) on faculty positions under the aegis of the China Study Centre. The meeting was chaired by COMSATS Rector Prof Dr Tabassum Afzal. CUI currently employs over 170 faculty members who are alumni of Chinese universities. Moreover, over 140 faculty members from CUI are currently pursuing PhDs in various top-ranked universities of China. CSC Head Ali Tawab Balouch said that scores of scholars will go to China in the coming years for higher education. Prof Afzal said alumni of Chinese universities should work with their Chinese counterparts and collaborators for joint research opportunities on projects that are pertinent to the global development agenda while addressing local needs.
