ISLAMABAD:

A policeman was killed in a fierce altercation between two cops over the occupation of a government flat in Sector G-6 within the remits of Aabpara police station on Thursday. The alleged killer escaped the scene with the murder weapon.

According to local people, policemen and powerful government officials have occupied the government apartments in Sector G-6/1. Even the Islamabad High Court orders failed to evict the illegal occupants of the government residents, they said.

Being a prised possession, fights over these free residences in the federal capital are common. However, the conflict between Constable Bakht Munir of CIA and Constable Asim of ARU department of federal police led to Munir’s murder.

Asim had earlier quarreled with Munir over the same apartment and senior officers had suspended both of them. However, Asim did not give up, and attacked Munir on Thursday. He opened fire with his official weapon on Munir, killing him on the spot and fled.
