A suspected street criminal was shot dead while a police official was injured during an alleged encounter near Abbas Town, within the remits of the Sachal police, on Tuesday. According to the police, two suspects on a motorcycle were attempting to flee after looting a citizen outside an ATM when police personnel intercepted them. One of the suspects opened fire at the law enforcers, wounding constable Azeemul Hassan. Meanwhile, the police returned fire and killed a suspect, while his accomplice managed to escape. Hassan was taken to a hospital for treatment, while the slain robber was shifted to a morgue for identification. The police recovered a motorcycle, cellphones and cash from his possession. A case has been registered.
