10 dead in 864 road accidents

At least 10 people died, whereas 956 were injured in 864 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab on Tuesday.

Out of this, 555 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 401 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority of 65% involved motorcycles. Further, the analysis showed that 364 drivers, 22 underage drivers, 173 pedestrians, and 429 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics showed that 204 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 208 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 82 in Faisalabad with 89 victims and at third Multan with 73 RTCs and 78 victims.

The details further revealed that 966 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 750 males and 216 females, while the age group of the victims showed that 157 were under 18 years of age, 549 were between 18 and 40 years and the rest of the 260 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 733 motorcycles, 120 auto-rickshaws, 89 cars, 33 vans, four-passenger buses, 21 trucks and 120 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
