MULTAN:

The Accountability Court Multan on Monday sentenced a man to three and half years in jail and Rs18 million fine in a fraud case. According to official sources, Sheikh Zakaur Rehman, son of Bahauddin Haji, a resident of Burewala, had lured people for investment in sugar trade for a high profit. He deceitfully collected over Rs22 million from 11 complainants, but neither paid them profit nor returned the invested amount. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan conducted an inquiry into the matter and the accused was found involved in cheating the complainants. A reference against the accused was filed by NAB in the accountability court in 2015. The accused absconded during the investigation and was declared a proclaimed offender by the court. After his arrest, the trial was initiated.
