Pending upgrades: Railways to modernise coaches

Rolling stock of railways need to be upgraded in line with modern specification of robust design and enhanced speed

The Pakistan Railways will hold a conference regarding induction of rolling stock passenger coaches and freight wagons and to discuss their salient features, specifications, keeping in view the anticipated traffic volume on ML-I and GITA etc. Rolling stock of railways need to be upgraded in line with modern specification of robust design and enhanced speed. Therefore, Pakistan Railways has planned to induct latest passenger coaches and freight wagons to provide facilities for general public by improving the existing obsolete infrastructure and inducting the new fleet compatible with modern/European specifications. Moreover, the Ministry of Railways has initiated various projects regarding induction of rolling stock in development budget as well as PPP mode. Current PSDP as well as PSDP Plus includes huge budget for rolling stock.
