A photo competition on the Hindu Kush, Karakoram and Pamir landscapes has been launched.

The competition, titled ‘Bam-e-Dunya’ photo contest-2020, was announced by the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), an intergovernmental knowledge and learning centre in eight regional member countries of the Hindu Kush Himalayas, under its initiative– The Hindu Kush Karakoram Pamir Landscape (HKPL) – that aims to enhance cooperation for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development among Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and Tajikistan.

Announcing the competition in a statement, ICIMOD said the objective of the contest is to raise awareness about the need to protect and promote mountain ecosystem along the lines and principles of sustainable resource use while showcasing the treasured wealth of the region.

The generic theme of the contest is ‘people and environment’ of the HKPL. The photographer whose picture is adjudged as first will be given an award of $500, while the second and third place winners will receive $300 and $200 respectively.
