K-P registered voters swell to 18.6m

Provincial election commission says increasing women’s registration, turnout main challenges

PESHAWAR:

After the merger of the erstwhile federally administered tribal areas (Fata) with the province, the number of registered voters in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have swelled to 18.594 million.

In data shared by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Election Commissioner on Friday, the number of men registered to vote is 10.625 million while there are 7.968 million women registered to vote.

Documents available with Express Tribune showed that the total numbers of registered voters in the settled areas of the province during the general elections in 2018 were 15.328 million. This figure has increased by 642,127 to 15.97 million.

There were 6.617 million women registered to vote in 2018, which has increased to 6.905 million.

Similarly, there were some 8.711 million men registered to vote during the 2018 elections. This figure has now swelled by 353,312 to 9.064 million.

After including 2,624 million voters from the merged districts, the number of voters in the province has increased to 18.594 million.

Of these, 10.626 million are men and 7.968 million are women.

In the merged districts, there are 1.063 million registered women voters and 1.561 million registered voters are men.
