ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad District Health Officer Zaeem Zia cautioned on Sunday against the rise in cases of Covid-19 in Islamabad as the capital recorded over 70 new cases.

The DHO took to Twitter, stating that, "Inbound movement was apparently the major cause" of the spread of the virus.

He said the district administration was taking necessary steps to control the increase of coronavirus, but asked people to be aware of the threat and follow the SOPs.

Earlier this month, health officials, referring to the slight rise in cases of Covid-19 in the capital, said though the numbers were far less than the time when the pandemic was at its peak, an increase in the incidence of infections was enough to ring alarm bells.

The majority of doctors in Pakistan have advised the people to continue taking precautionary measures in view of coronavirus pandemic.

On Septmber 15, an educational institute in Islamabad was sealed after the emergence of 16 Covid-19 infections, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had reported.

As per the details shared by the NCOC, contact tracing was carried out at the college to contain the spread of the deadly virus after it was sealed.
