PESHAWAR:

A key body of doctors in the provincial capital have rejected the hike in the prices of medicines by the federal government and has urged the Supreme Court to take suo moto notice of the issue.

The Professional Doctors Association (PDA) in a statement on Saturday stated the increase in the prices of essential lifesaving drugs would deprive the needy and poor people from healthcare. The surge in medicines prices would also led to scuffles between hospitals’ staff and patients.

The federal government has increased the prices of 94 different medicines from nine up to 262 per cent. The statement termed the hike as unjustified.
