Transgender among 11 arrested for gambling

Police have arrested 11 gamblers, including a person who is a transgender, besides recovering stake money worth Rs33,690 and 11 cell phones from their possession during a crackdown against anti-social elements, a police spokesperson stated on Sunday.v The official said that the New Town Police received a tip-off that some people were busy gambling in the area.

Acting on the information, a squad from the station was dispatched to the suspected gambling den.

There, police arrested 11 suspected gamblers identified transgender Muhammad Ali alias Laila, Qaiser Mehmood, Muhammad Riasat, Suleman, Kashif Iqbal, Khurrum Shahzad, Hassan Javed, Sajid Mehmood, Muhammad Nawaz, Amjad Farooq and Azam. Police registered separate cases against them for gambling.
