Seven out of every 10 people suffer from hepatitis in Quetta

Hepatitis is spreading rapidly in Quetta as the disease has killed eight people in one week while 50 other patients are struggling between life and death. 

Black jaundice and hepatitis A, B, C and D have gripped Quetta as seven out of every 10 people suffer from hepatitis, maintained Dr Naseer Niaz. The disease is commonly caused by viral infection but there are other possible causes as well. 

Niaz further added the disease is spreading mainly due to unhealthy food and eating in hotels against the rules of hygiene as well as sexual misconduct.

Other main reasons of the widespread disease in the city included use of public toilets, obtaining blood from substandard laboratories, shaving at barber shops and sexual misconduct.

The anti-hepatitis programme in Quetta is treating affected people in the capital city of the province and the hinterland. But the disease is spreading rapidly and affecting every other person due to carelessness and unavailability of the treatment by qualified doctors.

Citizens needed to play role in the ongoing fight against hepatitis as the disease could be avoided by taking precautions.

After Jaffarabad and Sohbatpur, Quetta is at number three for the widespread of hepatitis.
