Kidnapping or misunderstanding, police were perplexed as the ‘victim’ changed her statement in the police station after being rescued from a taxi on the motorway by National Motorway and Highways Police (NHMP).
According to a Motorway police spokesman, a squad chased a taxi bearing registration number LXF 9255, after hearing cries for help of a woman and three children.
The NHMP team intercepted the taxi in Mandra area and arrested both the alleged abductors namely Sohail Idrees and Shehzad and also recovered a 30 bore pistol from their possession.
Later, the alleged kidnappers were handed over to district police. The woman thanked NHMP for immediate action and foiling the abduction bid, the spokesman added.

However, Sihala police station officials, contrary to the action and incident reported by the NHMP, registered only a case of illegal weapon against the driver of the taxi Sohail Idress on behalf of the ASI of Sihala police station.
When contacted, Sihala police station SHO Sihala Malik Bashir said that during the initial investigation, the woman's position was that she knew the person in the car with whom she was shopping while the juice fell on her daughter, and therefore her daughter was making noise, and police had stopped them.
SHO Sihala further said that a weapon was found in the taxi and a case of illegal arms was registered against him.
