The provincial government on Friday announced the launch of a two-year associate degree as a terminal degree in itself and for those who wish to terminate their four-year bachelors of sciences degrees early. In a notification issued by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department on Friday, the two-year Associate Degree will be available as an option in all colleges of the province from the upcoming academic session of 2020. In this regard, all affiliate universities have been asked to work out a uniform structure for both degrees in terms of admissions, courses, credits, transfer of credits mode of evaluation promotion and pathway to further education before the start of the fall 2020 semester. Moreover, the existing status of government colleges - which were affiliated for the two-year Bachelors of Arts (BA) and Bachelors of Sciences (BSc) programmes, will now switch over to the corresponding Associate Degree (Arts)/ Associate Degree (Science) by default.
