Calligraphy workshop begins at LAC

Highly experienced teachers are passing on their skills to the next generation to learn calligraphy

The Lahore Arts Council (LAC) organised a six-day calligraphy workshop at Alhamra Art Gallery, on Friday. Renowned artist Dr Ijaz Anwar along with LAC Executive Director Alhamra Saman Rai inaugurated the workshop. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the executive director said that Alhamra was providing modern education and training to the youth in the field of fine arts. “Highly experienced teachers are passing on their skills to the next generation to learn calligraphy.” Arts and Culture Director Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi said, “We welcome people of all ages from all over Pakistan to participate in the workshop on the Alhamra platform.” In the first session, Calligraphers Association of Pakistan General Secretary Irfan Qureshi delivered an in-depth lecture on ‘National Language Urdu Script’ while Khalid Mehmood Qureshi shed light on the principles of Lahori Nastaliq. The workshop will continue till September 24.
