‘Accidents can be avoided’

Rescue 1122 district chief urges motorists, bikers to drive responsibly

Most of the road and fire incidents can be averted by following precautionary measures with strict observance of traffic and fire safety measures.

Underage drivers, dilapidated roads, misuse of motorbikes, lack of wearing helmets, over speeding, one wheeling, rash driving behaviours, and use of mobile phones during driving, caused accidents said District Emergency Officer (DEO) of Rescue 1122, Ali Hussain said that

Moreover, sudden change of road lane, illegal diversions, double or triple passengers on bike, sudden opening of doors of vehicles and some others were also among causes behind the accidents, he said.

Hussain urged the drivers not to violate traffic rules as most of the road accidents occur due to human negligence, over speeding and violation of traffic rules. If the drivers strictly observe traffic rules on road then most of the accidents could be averted, he added.

He said vehicle must be thoroughly inspected before starting their journey and use vehicles in fit condition. He also complained that the drivers of passenger vans as well as motorcycle-rickshaws do not clear the way for rescue vehicles and ambulances. The DEO urged parents and elders not to give motorcycles to kids.

Rescue 1122 receives many calls of accidents of underage bikers. Similarly motorcyclists should wear helmets and maintain fitness of their vehicle.
