RAWALPINDI:

The windscreen of Senator Mirza Afridi was broken when a stone flung from an unidentifed direction struck it on the motorway on Tuesday. The senator remained safe in the incident. There were rumours that someone had fired a shot at the senator’s vehicle. National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) officials said that Senator Afridi was on his way to attend the Senate session when a stone hit his car’s windscreen near Bhera and the glass crumble.

Police reached the site immediately after getting information and started the investigation. Senator Afridi stayed at the Bhera Interchange until another car came to pick him up. Meanwhile, in another incident, the motorway police arrested a suspect, Ghulam Mustafa, from a passenger bus headed to Lahore from Peshawar. Police recovered a pistol, ammunition, and a dagger from his possession. The suspect was handed over to Chakwal police for further action.
