India one again suffers a humiliating failure at the United nations as despite its best efforts, Kashmir has been included in the agenda of the annual session of the General Assembly (UNGA) as an unresolved dispute.
According to media reports, the 75th annual session of the UN General Assembly has begun. The session in New York will be virtual due to the coronavirus epidemic, in which leaders of the member states will participate online.
India lobbied and tried hard at the diplomatic level not to include the Kashmir in the agenda for this year’s session in order to cover up its actions on August 5 last year and atrocities on the Kashmiris. However, its all efforts failed and the Kashmir dispute was kept on the UNGA agenda.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the session on September 23. He will inform the world about the atrocities of the Indian army in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the grave human rights violations of the Modi government and urge the international community to take concrete and effective steps.
Vulkan Bozkir, a 69-year-old Turkish diplomat and politician, had already been elected president of the 75th session of the UNGA. Turkey won the presidency of the General Assembly for the first time. Bozkir received 178 votes out of 193 members.
