A young lawyer was found strangled to death at her residence in Paretabad, Hyderabad, on Monday. The police have arrested her husband on suspicion of the alleged murder. The incident triggered protests among the legal fraternity, with lawyers suspending court proceedings. A police official, who requested anonymity, claimed that Aamir Marwari, husband of the slain Sobia Qazi, had confessed to the murder during the initial interrogation. The police suspect he strangled his wife due to a personal dispute between the couple. Haider Qazi, Sobia’s brother, also reportedly told the police that his family suspected Marwari had killed her. The body was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital for medico-legal formalities, while no FIR had been registered till the filing of this report.
