The investigation police arrested two suspects on Monday over suspicion of involvement in the alleged murder of a Kazakhtani woman, which was earlier thought to be a suicide.
The body of the woman, 53-year-old David Lana, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at a bungalow in Clifton on September 4. While the first post-mortem report said she had died by suicide, another post-mortem, performed at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre on the investigation officer's request, suggested that she had been strangled to death.
A case was registered under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code pertaining to murder, and Lana's husband, Farooq Dosa, and a member of their household staff, Saleem alias Bangali, were arrested after investigation. Dosa, who is wheelchair-bound, reportedly failed to satisfy the police during interrogation.
According to South investigation SP Bashir Ahmed Brohi, Dosa had recently married Lana, who had been employed at his house since 2004. He added that the police believed Dosa had murdered Lana with the help of his servant, for demanding that he transfer the bungalow to her name after their wedding.
