The government has issued the details of the number of councillors to form municipal and tehsil councils in the Rawalpindi district under the new local bodies system.
The seats of youth councillors and technocrats have been eliminated in the new system.
As per details of the allocation of seats in neighbourhood councils, there will be 56 councillors in Rawalpindi Metropolitan Municipal Corporation (RMMC). Among them, some 40 seats have been allocated for general councillors, eight have been reserved for women, six for peasants/workers, and two have been reserved for religious minorities.
Further, the Kahuta Municipal Committee would comprise of 10 general councillors, two women councillors, and one each peasant and minority councillors.
The municipal committee of Kotli Sattian and Murree will have a composition of 10 general councillors, two women, a peasant, and a minority councillor.
Varsities out of ambit of women harassment act
Gujjar Khan Municipal committee would have a total of 21 councillors with 15 general councillors along with three women, two peasants, and a minority councillor.
The municipal committee of Kalar Syedan and Taxila would also have 14 councillors each.
The only town committee in the district, Daultana, will collectively have 14 councillors including 10 general councillors, two women as well as a minority councillor and a peasant.
In the village councils, the Rawalpindi and Murree Tehsil Councils will have 35 councillors each while Gujjar Khan Tehsil will be formed by 42 councillors.
The tehsil councils of Kahuta, Taxila, and Kalar Syedan will have 28 councillors each while Tehsil Kotli Sattian would comprise of 21 councillors.
