Special desks to be set up for transgenders at police stations

Protection of rights of transgender people would also made part of police training course

PESHAWAR:

In an effort to facilitate the transgender community that often face violence, the provincial police department has decided to set up special desk for them at police stations across the province.

The K-P IGP has said that special desks would be established at all police stations which would be headed by a focal person with rank of ASP to ensure that the complaints filed by transgender are addressed. Protection of rights of transgender people would also made part of police training course, he added.

Meanwhile, K-P transgender community announced to hold a massive protest in the provincial capital on Monday against the killing of two transgender people in the past few days.

Peshawar Shemale Association President Arzoo told The Express Tribune that transgender people are constantly under attack across the province and no security is being provided to them.
