Civil society holds protest against gang rape

The protesters demanded culprits involved should be given exemplary punishment

PESHAWAR:

People from various sections of society gathered in the provincial capital on Saturday to demonstrate against the Lahore motorway gang rape.

The protest was organised by the K-P Civil Society Network in which people from different walks of life including rights activists, educationists, lawyers, doctors, parliamentarians and members of civil society participated in the demonstration. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the heinous crime of gang-rape of a woman in Lahore. The protesters also condemned the remarks made by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh.

The K-P Civil Society Network representatives including Taimor Kamal, Tahira Kaleem, Shabina Ayaz, Hashish Raza and Saima led the protest.

The protesters demanded culprits involved in sexual assault of transgender, women, and minors should be given exemplary punishment.
