SC rejects bail pleas

The NAB claimed that the accused fled after their bail pleas were dismissed while Shaikh was arrested

The Supreme Court rejected the bail pleas of former Karachi Metropolitan Corporation director Saba Islam and another accused on Friday in the case pertaining to illegal land allotment. A two-member bench, comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, heard the reference against former local government secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh and others at the SC Karachi Registry. Officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Islam and the other accused, Shehzad, after the bench rejected their bail pleas. The accused had approached the apex court after their bail pleas were dismissed by the Sindh High Court. The NAB claimed that the accused fled after their bail pleas were dismissed while Shaikh was arrested.
