Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa has paid homage to the founder of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, saying: “Under his leadership, Pakistan emerged as a separate sovereign state.”

September 11 marks the 72nd death anniversary of the Quaid, which is being observed across the country with due solemnity and reverence.

“Nation pays homage to the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Under his leadership, #Pakistan emerged as a separate sovereign state,” said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a tweet on Friday.

“Quaid's vision of a vibrant, peaceful and prosperous Pakistan remains our goal. Together we shall achieve this, InshaAllah,” the military’s media wing quoted the General Qamar as saying.

The Quaid was born on September 25, 1876, in Karachi. He received his primary education in the port city and went abroad for higher studies.

Under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, Muslims struggled for a separate country. Only a year after the establishment of Pakistan, he passed away on September 11, 1948.

On the occasion of his death anniversary, special events are being held all over the country.
