Pemra bans 'Jalan' over indecent content
In a recent notification, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), on Thursday, banned the ARY Digital’s drama Jalan. The reason behind the ban was cited to be the complaints received to the regulatory authority by the viewers for indecent content.
In the notice issued by Pemra, it was said that Jalan did not align with the cultural and societal values of the country. The notice went on to add that the Minal Khan, Emaad Irfaani serial went against the ethics and morals of Pakistan.
The statement further reads that the regulatory body had given repeated warnings to the channel earlier as well to revise the content of the aforementioned show, however, since no changes were made and the warnings fell on deaf ears, the show ha now been banned under Section 27 of the Pemra Ordinance.
Previously, the show irked few with its 'troublesome' script. Jalan stars Minal, Emaad and Areeba Habib in lead roles and revolves around an apparently love triangle, and infidelity.
