PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Ahmed Kundi on Thursday submitted a call-to-attention-notice in the provincial assembly over the arrest of a Chitral resident on allegedly trumped-up charges by the district administration. The PPP leader said that the Chitral deputy commissioner has arrested Muhammad Pervez on fake charges of disturbing the public order. Pervez, Kundi said, had only staged a protest against the district administration for depriving him of the relief package announced by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan during his recent visit to the flood-hit areas of Chitral. Freedom of speech and the right to assembly is guaranteed in the Constitution, Kundi added. Meanwhile, a new session of the K-P Assembly is expected to commence today (Friday) to discuss the Chakdara-Chitral route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the billion tree tsunami project.
