Accused Adil Zaman managed to easily escape from the court premises on Thursday, after the Supreme Court cancelled his bail in the case pertaining to the murders of anchorperson Mureed Abbas and his friend. Hearing a plea challenging his release on bail by Abbas’ widow at the Karachi Registry, the apex court suspended the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) decision to release the accused on bail, and instead directed that Zaman be arrested and sent to jail again. The SHC ignored important evidence when granting bail to the accused, remarked the apex court during the hearing. It observed that the statements of four witnesses and the existing evidence proved that the accused was present at the crime scene when the murders occurred. Adil’s brother Atif is accused of killing Abbas and his friend.
