Price fixing: DCO announces official meat prices

The DCO said the open market prices for meat had been fluctuating and locals had complained.

LAYYAH: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Mushtaq Ahmad Anjum has fixed the rate of mutton at Rs300 per kg and beef at Rs180 per kg with immediate effect. The DCO said the open market prices for meat had been fluctuating and locals had complained that several shopkeepers were overcharging. According to officials, the DCO also fixed rate of mutton at Rs290 and beef at Rs170 per kg for sasta ramazan bazaars. The DCO also directed monitoring and raiding teams to ensure the sale of various food items at fixed rates in sasta ramazan bazaars all over the district. The DCO has ordered strict monitoring of bazaars in the district to ensure that the new meat prices are applied. Shopkeepers have been ordered to display complete price lists outside their shops.
