PESHAWAR:

The Awami National Party has urged the Saudi Arabian government to help resolve the problems being faced by Pakistani ex-pats living and working in the kingdom.

This was stressed as Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa President Aimal Wali Khan called on the Saudi Arabia Ambassador Nawaf Bin Syedul Maliki in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, he handed over a letter to the ambassador for Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman. The letter, Aimal said, highlights the problems being faced by Pakistani labourers in Saudi Arabia. He further demanded to resolve the issue of Pakistani ex-pats stranded in the kingdom after their visas had expired but were unable to travel home due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) regulations.

The ANP leader cited that over 2.5 million labourers are working in Saudi Arabia, of which around 90 per cent hail from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) province. The Saudi crown prince was also requested to look into the matter of labourers barred from leaving the Middle Eastern country without clearing matters with their Kafala (sponsor).
