PESHAWAR:

A woman allegedly killed her five-year-old stepson and threw his body in a maize field in the Acheni Payan area of the provincial capital on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the precincts of Pishtakhara police station.

The family of the deceased minor boy identified as Nauman told the police that the minor had gone to the nearby shop to buy some sweets but did not return. They went to inquire from the shopkeeper who told that Nauman had not been to the shop. They immediately started searching him and found his body in the field in front of their home, they added.

The victim's father Abdusalam said he had two wives and both were not at good terms with each other. The suspect had threatened the deceased boy's mother a few days ago of dire consequences during a verbal clash.

Police said the suspect has been taken into custody and a case has been registered against her. They said the investigation is underway to find who helped the suspect in killing the minor boy. The suspect during the preliminary investigation has confessed to killing the minor boy, they added.

Meanwhile, a woman and her three children who sustained burn injuries after her husband threw acid on her and her children few days ago said in Peshawar said that so far no action has been taken against the suspect.
