As many as 713 road accidents across Punjab claimed life of one individual and injured 769 during the last 24 hours.
At least 430 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different nearby hospitals. The rest of the injured were treated at the incident site.
An overwhelming majority of the accidents (67%) involved motorcycles. Statistics show 334 adult drivers, 25 underage drivers, 106 pedestrians, and 329 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes (RTCs).
Data analysis reveals that 178 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 179 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 66 RTCs in Faisalabad with 72 victims and 53 RTCs in Multan with 55 victims.
Moreover, the age group of the victims shows that 140 were under 18 years of age, 382 were between the ages of 18 and 40 while the rest of the 247 victims were above 40 years in age.
Vehicle wise, 629 motorcycles, 97 rickshaws, 60 cars, 24 vans, six passenger buses, 17 trucks and 99 other types of vehicles.
