Arnold Schwarzenegger scores career's first TV gig

The 'Terminator' star is gearing up for a spy adventure series by Nick Santora

It seems implausible that a celebrity with a massive pop-culture footprint, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, is yet to dive into the world of scripted television.

But the reality of it clearly does not sit well with the Austrian Oak either. So now, Skydance is developing an original hourlong series headlined and executive produced by Schwarzenegger in his first major foray into scripted television, according to Deadline.

It appears there’s no end to this man's drive. Schwarzenegger immigrated as a fresh-faced 21 year old who barely spoke a word of English, hit the weights hard, rose to infamy at the iconic Muscle Beach, became an international film star, and then governed California, the nation's largest state.

And now, created by the Scorpion maker Nick Santora, Schwarzenegger’s upcoming series will be a global spy adventure revolving around the story of a father, played by him and a daughter, the preliminary casting for whom is underway.

The series would mark the first major scripted TV role for the Terminator and True Lies star. On the unscripted side, the actor has done a one-season stint as the star and executive producer of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice in 2017.

Skydance is also expected to pitch the project to streaming giants shortly.

Schwarzenegger has had a longstanding relationship with the indie studio, having starred in Terminator: Genisys and Terminator: Dark Fate. On the feature side, the actor reprised his iconic role of T-800 in the latest installments of the venerable franchise.

Most recently seen in last year’s Terminator: Dark Fate, Schwarzenegger stars in the upcoming Kung Fury II: The Movie and is attached to reprise his role opposite Danny DeVito in the Twins sequel Triplets with Eddie Murphy, which is currently in development.
