More bodies found in rain’s aftermath in Karachi

At least 40 people were killed or found dead in rain-related incidents in the city last week

The bodies of two men, who had drowned in a nullah in Abbas Town on Thursday, were recovered on Monday, while that of a boy remained missing.

The deceased, identified as 42-year-old Ayaz Hussain and 20-year-old Hassan Raza, had reportedly drowned in the nullah while trying to save Hussain’s son, 12-year-old Mohib. The boy also drowned in the incident.

While a search operation was launched soon after the incident, Hussain and Raza’s bodies could not be found until five days later.

Hussain’s body was discovered in the Lyari River near Mauripur, while Raza’s body was found from under the Lyari Expressway.

According to Sachal SHO Haroon Korai, Mohib’s body was still missing and efforts to find it remained underway.

The retrieved bodies were handed over to their respective families after the completion of medico-legal formalities.

Seven people were killed or found dead in rain-related incidents in the city on Saturday. On Friday, at least 10 bodies of citizens who had drowned to death in different nullahs and streams were retrieved, while at least 23 deaths were reported on Thursday as record-breaking rainfall lashed the city.
