Quetta Police Additional Inspector General (AIG) Abdul Razzaq Cheema said strict security measures have been planned for Ashura procession with 7,000 police officers and Frontier Corps would be deployed to perform duties on Sunday (tomorrow).

"We have sealed shops, markets, plazas and hotels on the route of Ashura procession while three battalions of Pakistan Army are on standby,” said Cheema while addressing a news conference on Saturday wherein he was accompanied by Quetta Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Aurangzeb Badini.

He further said a survey of shops and hotels along the route of the procession had been completed a month ago. Fool proof security will be provided to deal with terrorism and any untoward incident in the context of law and order, Cheema added.
