Fire erupts at BRT station
A fire erupted at a Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor on Wednesday, however, no loss of life was reported.
Fire brigades of the Rescue 1122 rushed to spot and put out the fire.
A BRT spokesperson said that the fire had erupted at the 28th station of the bus service near Hayatabad due to a short circuit. The bus service was then briefly suspended due to the incident, he said.
The official further said that the Rescue 1122 put out the fire and all the passengers were evacuated safely.
The Special Assistant to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister for Information Kamran Bangash reached the site of the incident.
Bangash also constituted a committee to probe into the incident.
The special assistant said that BRT service is open and advised the public not to listen to the malicious propaganda against the transport service by opponents of the ruling party.
Last week, the BRT operation was suspended for an hour when a bus developed some fault in the Gulbahar area of the provincial capital and had blocked the corridor. The bus was then shifted through a tow-truck for inspection.
The BRT project has been under criticism as the service is being faced with problems since its inauguration on August 13.
