Rs0.6b released for women varsity in Pindi

At least Rs0.2b would be spent on construction of new academic block

RAWALPINDI:

The provincial government has released funds worth Rs0.6 billion for the New Women University in Satellite Town.

The grant has been debited in the university’s account. Out of the total released funds, Rs0.4 billion have been allocated for university’s fund while the remaining Rs0.2 billion would be utilised on construction of a new academic building.

The construction of the new block would be completed in a year. Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed will host a special event at the university on August 24.

The university officials said that as many as 1,000 students have already enrolled themselves in the inaugural academic year.

Meanwhile, the preparations for establishing an Information Technology (IT) University at Punjab House in Rawalpindi and two new Girls’ Degree Colleges in Dhok Dalal are also in its final stages.
