Police conduct operations in view of Muharram

Police Operations Wing conducted 30 search and sweep operations in the city on the first day of Muharram to ensure maintenance of law and order and apprehend anti-social elements, criminals as well as proclaimed offenders.

A report issued by Lahore police showed that during the search operations as many as 2,679 persons, 619 houses, 201 tenants, three hostels and 28 shops were checked. Police took action against 27 individuals, registering 13 FIRs under the Tenant Registration Act and arresting 14 on suspicion of other crimes. City, Civil Lines, Cantt, Iqbal Town, Model Town and Sadar division police conducted five search and sweep operations each in their areas.

SSP Operations Lahore Faisal Shehzad said the operations will continue in the city in view of the importance of Muharram events.
