The cyber Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police has arrested a 27-year-old man from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, for harassing actor Sonakshi Sinha on social media, reported Hindustan Times. The actor who has deactivated her Twitter account had earlier on faced harassment in the form of troll comments and threats on her social media account. Her team subsequently registered a FIR Mumbai Polic’s cybercrime branch, a week ago.
In an official statement, the Dabaang starlet thanked the authorities in question. “I am immensely grateful to cyber crime branch Mumbai for taking prompt action and being so supportive,” Sonakshi was quoted as saying. Adding on, she outlined her reason to take up the matter in the cyber crime branch.
"I took this step to report the culprits so that even others gather the courage to do the same. Ab Bas, we will not watch and allow online abuse happen to us or others. I am extremely glad to be part of a campaign like this to help as many people as I can, who have been subjected to online harassment,” she said.
On Friday Sonakshi shared a video urging all to report any case of online abuse, Sonakshi wrote on Instagram Friday evening, “Giving back is a hundred times better than giving up! Sharing a glimpse of the final episode that raises our voice against cyberbullies," she said.
