Contractors collecting taxes illegally

The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) has tacitly acknowledged that some private contractors were collecting different taxes from citizens despite the expiry of their contracts on June 30.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the HMC advised citizens and traders not to pay taxes such as parking fees because the contract for the 2019-20 fiscal year had expired on June 30. The citizens have been advised to complain to the HMC tax department if they were forced to pay any tax.
