In yet another incident of ceasefire violation, Indian troops targeted civilian population along the Line of Control (LoC) and injured an elderly woman, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

"Indian army troops unprovoked ceasefire violation along LoC in Sabzkot Sector targeting civil population. A 70 years old woman in Khui village got injured," it added.

Pakistan Army troops responded effectively to Indian firing, the military's media wing said.

This year, India has committed over 1,981 ceasefire violations to date, resulting in the martyrdom of 16 and serious injuries to at least 162 innocent civilians.

Earlier this month, DG ISPR Maj General Babr Iftikhar had said that despite Covid-19 pandemic and UN secretary-general appeal, Indian forces have intensified ceasefire violations targeting civilian population. “The Pakistan Army always gives befitting response to Indian violation but being a professional army we only target their military posts.”

Last week, Indian border forces had also injured the woman in Khuiratta Sector along LoC.
