CDA starts building three pedestrian bridges

The apex civic authority of the federal capital has started construction on three pedestrian bridges in different parts of the city.

In a statement issued by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday, the authority said that civil work on the overhead pedestrian bridges has started, adding that they will be built simultaneously.

These bridges are being constructed on the Kashmir Highway near the Sunday Bazaar, the Faisal Avenue on the Sector G-7/2 and Sector G-8 intersection near the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), and on Jinnah Avenue at the Mehran gate of the Sector F-9 Park opposite Sector G-9/2.

Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila has been tasked with installing these bridges for Rs135 million.

Providing a breakdown of the cost, CDA said that the pedestrian bridge being built over Kashmir Highway will cost Rs51.94 million, the pedestrian bridge on Jinnah Avenue will cost Rs40.12 million, while a pedestrian bridge on Faisal Avenue near Pims will be constructed and installed for Rs42.93 million.

The civic authority had decided to build the bridges to avert accidents and maintain the smooth flow of traffic in the city.

Earlier, the authority built a pedestrian bridge at Pakistan Secretariat on Constitution Avenue.
