The delimitation process for the new local government system (LG) has been completed on Monday after which the Pakistan Election Commission authorities in Rawalpindi will hear objections on the new demarcations. Under the new local government system, there would be 105 neighborhood councils in the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC). Earlier, the Rawalpindi district comprised of 46 Union Councils (UCs). However, now, some 24 UCs of the Potohar Town have been included in the RMC as well. Kahuta Municipal Committee will have eight neighborhood councils, Kotli Satiyan and Muree Municipal Committees would have five councils while Gujjar Khan Municipal Committee would have a total of 19 neighborhood councils. Taxila and Kalar Syedan each will have eight neighborhood councils. The only Town Committee of the district, Daultana, would have five neighborhood councils while there would be 19 in Rawalpindi Tehsil.
