Auqaf dept forms teams for peace-building

Group of 36 scholars will be led by Maulana Mufti Ramzan Sialvi, the Khatib of Jamia Masjid Data Darbar

Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department has formed groups of 120 eminent scholars of different schools of thought to meet scholars, district peace committees’ representatives and administration and police officials across Punjab to inspire strict observance of pandemic safety protocols and promote interfaith harmony in Muharram.

Official sources said one group of 36 scholars will be led by Maulana Mufti Ramzan Sialvi, the Khatib of Jamia Masjid Data Darbar.

The delegation is expected to meet the members of the District Peace Committees, scholars, commissioners, regional police officers (RPOs), other police and administration officials concerned from Gujarat, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Narowal at the Circuit House Gujranwala. Another group headed by Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, the Khatib of Badshahi Mosque in Lahore comprises of 39 religious scholars.

As per sources, this group has been assigned to hold meetings regarding Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions.

The third group led by former provincial Khatib Mufti Ishaq Saqi includes 45 scholars.
