K-P to extend Sehat Sahulat Programme to all districts

Extension of healthcare initiative will be completed in four phases

PESHAWAR:

The provincial government has decided to extend its public health insurance plan, the Sehat Sahulat Programme, to all districts of the province.

This was disclosed during a meeting of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Department presided by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday.

The chief minister was informed that the health department has completed preparations for extending the programme across the province.

In the first phase, the programme would be extended to Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Malakand, Swat and Shangla districts by October this year.

In the second phase, the healthcare initiative would be extended to Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Tor Ghar and Kohistan districts by November while in the third phase, it would be extended to Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Buner, Nowshera, Charsadda and Peshawar districts.

Similarly, under the last phase of the plan, the programme would be extended to the rest of districts including Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan and Tank by January next year.

The meeting was also told that work on the rehabilitation of all the BHUs and RHCs across the province. As many as 200 BHUs and 50 RHCs would remain open 24 hours a day. The meeting was further informed that planning for the extension of Sehat Sahulat Programme to the newly merged tribal districts has already been completed.
