Oil tanker overturns in Faisalabad

Rescue 1122 officials said a team shifted the victims to the hospital

FAISALABAD:

An oil tankers carrying 48,000 litres of oil overturned on Motorway Bridge, Sammundri, injuring the driver and conductor.

Rescue 1122 officials said a team shifted the victims to the hospital. Police and district administration closed the motorway to avoid a major accident and participated in relief work.

Mohammad Ali, 38, a resident of Pakpattan, along with his conductor Ashfaq, 41, son of Rafiq, were transporting oil in tanker from Multan to Sheikhupura.

The driver fell asleep near Chak No 430, Motorway M3 and the oil tanker loaded with 48,000 litres of oil resultantly overturned on the motorway with the oil spilling out. Both the driver Mohammad Ali and Ashfaq were injured when the oil tanker overturned.

Receiving information, Tandlianwala Assistant Commissioner Usama Sharoon, police, civil defence and Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control by keeping people away from it.

The motorway officials and district administration immediately cordoned off the area to avoid any mishap and temporarily closed the motorway and straightened the oil tanker while taking part in the relief work.
